Find Out How You Can Help
Perhaps the most familiar role of a hospital pharmacy is that of distributing medications to inpatients. At Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center, however, the pharmacy goes above and beyond this function. Pharmacy Services, which are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to our patients, also compounds medications, provides guidance to the clinicians prescribing and administering medications, helps to educate patients about their pharmaceutical therapy, and performs clinical and managerial duties to ensure that the institution is providing the highest level of pharmaceutical care and is making the best use of its pharmaceutical resources.

In performing these responsibilities, the pharmacy staff interacts with a variety of individuals from both the clinical side of operations (physicians, nurses, technicians, inpatients, and outpatients) and the business side (purchasing agents, pharmaceutical suppliers, hospital administrators, and insurance companies).

The goals of the Pharmacy Services at Brookhaven Memorial support the overall mission of the institution: to play a vital role in the total health care of our patients.
